Fall Back….

The weather has turned colder and the sun goes down much sooner than it has. “Falling Back” means we have to work hard earlier in the day for anything requiring sunlight. Many things have been in the planning stages. We hope to have our program live soon. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile we have gotten into a lot of fun projects. Acorn hunts/business venture. Dirt Dauber next dissection. Magnolia bud dissection.

In the fall, we decided to dissect a magnolia “plant”. It wasn’t what we expected, but it was…..fun!

Seek and Find

We went on two “Nature Hunts” in the past two days, and we captured some awesome pictures.

It led to some extension lessons in the classroom. These are exactly what we were hoping for when we moved.

Who needs a textbook?! (Actually we do use textbooks, but this is pretty awesome too.)

Ready, Set, Go

We did it. We successfully began another homeschool year. Can’t wait to see where this leads us this time around!

Our plan has always been: one year at a time. We enjoy it very much, but we certainly have the expected worries about being successful in giving our kids all they need.

So, we put heads down, say our prayers, and do our best!

Back to Reality….

It’s been a bit since we checked in here, but so much has been happening. We welcomed a new nephew into the world shortly after Camp Seals, and have been taking time to collect all the cuddles we can.

For that reason we have simply been keeping our heads down working otherwise. Now we are back!!

Tadpoles

One of the things that sold this property for us was the large pond. It was exactly what we saw in our dreams. As we came down the road, our middle son said, “Mommy! That pond is be-U-Tee-Full!”

This past spring we have been keeping up with the tadpoles. We tried (unsuccessfully) to capture and raise some on our own. Finally, we decided the pond would have to be our aquarium.

Today, we finally got pictures of their entire life cycle. We were all so excited.

Clearing, Trimming, and Planting…Oh My!

After morning treasure hunts and smelling the flowers, some work does have to be done.

Daddy Seals and Granddad spent the past few days clearing brush, grading the ground, and trimming trees. Now our side yard has a beautiful row of trees you can actually see and walk through.

Since this property used to be the home of a tree nursery there are plenty of rows of interesting plants and trees. Deciding what needs to be kept and how to use what’s left is our present challenge.

We also need to spruce up the house landscaping. Thanks to Grammy and GrandPop we have some beautiful foundation plants. This Gardena is the latest addition!

The picture of roses is an example of what we can find when we trim things up. I wonder what else is waiting

For now we clean up and work on our farm plan for the future. Any and all ideas are welcome!
